Quiz Time Limit

By default, quizzes do not have a time limit. When a time limit is specified:

  • a floating timer window is shown with a countdown,
  • when the timer has run out, the quiz is submitted automatically with whatever answers have been filled in so far

Flag Question

The learner can click on the "flag" in the box next to the question to put a temporary marker on it. This marker is displayed in the navigation panel on the right.

Safe Exam Browser

Safe Exam Browser is a customised web browser. When it is activated, it brings about certain restrictions:

  • Learners will only be able to attempt the quiz if they are using Safe Exam Browser.
  • The browser window will not have a URL or search field and back/forward navigation.
  • Safe Exam Browser cannot be closed until the test is submitted.
  • Switching to other applications is disabled.
  • Shortcut keys are disabled or cannot be used to close Safe Exam Browser or to switch to other user accounts on the computer. 
  • The possibility of taking screen shots is disabled.
  • The clipboard is cleared when starting and quitting Safe Exam Browser.
  • The browser context menu is disabled.
  • Spell checking and dictionary lookup is disabled.

Voice Recording

Responses to speaking tasks are recorded with the quiz itself - the learner does not need to record the response somewhere else and then upload the voice file.

Forward Navigation

With "sequential" navigation activated, the learners progress through the questions in order and cannot go back to a previous question or skip to a later one. This is required in listening, speaking, and writing tasks.

Question Time Limit

In addition to the overall quit time limit, there are time limits for some questions within the quiz. When the time is over, the next question is automatically displayed.

Embedded Audio

Learners do not have any control over when an audio file will start playing, nor can they listen to the audio file more than once. The audio file is embedded into the question page and audio controls are not displayed.

Review Before Submitting

In the quiz navigation panel on the right, the list of questions is displayed. Those that have been already answered are marked. In addition to that, when the learner decides to finish the attempt manually, the list of questions that have been answered and unanswered is displayed so that the learner can go back and work on the unanswered questions.
