A Description question is used to display information to students rather than collect an answer.

It can be used for:

• Instructions
• Reading passages
• Explanations
• Introductions
• Information required before subsequent questions

A Description question does not require a student response and therefore has no points.

When creating a Description question, enter the required text in Question Text. General feedback and other response-related settings are not normally required because the purpose of the question is to provide information.

Description questions are particularly useful when a block of text needs to appear inside the sequence of questions. For example, a reading passage can be inserted before several Multiple Choice questions that refer to it.

A Description question can be placed on a page in the same way as other questions.

When previewing the question, check the formatting carefully, especially if the description contains HTML, images, or other formatted content.
